Finding The Best Natural Sleep Aid

Losing Sleep Is No Laughing Matter

With sleep deprivation being implicated in serious health issues ranging from obesity to cancer, the quantity and the quality of your sleep is paramount to enjoying a healthy life.  Sometimes, we face challenges to getting quality sleep. Let me share my story with you.

A few months ago I started having problems sleeping.  I’m not one who runs to the doctor to get the latest pill for two reasons.  Drug companies have way more control over what goes on in a doctor’s office than most people realize and because of this, your physician is more than ready to give you drugs.  Often, these drugs have side effects far worse than the problem they were prescribed for.  So, I went looking for a natural sleep aid that works with my body instead of against it.

I started doing research and found a few choices:

I started with the valerian.  I did notice that it did have a mellowing effect on me but wreaked havoc on my reflux.  I don’t think it was contraindicated for reflux but it definitely gave me indigestion even while taking prilosec.

Next, I tried the melatonin.  I bought a pill form that had both an instant layer and a timed-release layer.  This did help me get to sleep faster but still wouldn’t keep me asleep.  I woke up a little groggy but that’s about the extent of the side effects.  Not bad but not enough.

Same goes for the hops flowers.  Had a calming effect that was conducive to sleep but nothing to keep me asleep dependably.

What About Sleepzyme?

I saw an ad on the internet for a product called Sleepzyme that was supposed to help you fall asleep and stay asleep without drug side effects.  I decided to get some and see for myself.

When I opened the package I was pleased to see that it contained not one ingredient but several all known for their sleep enhancing properties.

Among them were:

  • Melatonin - hormone known to regulate sleep cyles
  • Hops Flower - long history of digestive aid and sedative
  • Passionflower - sleep and digestive aid since the time of the Incas
  • Lemon Balm - used since the Middle ages as a sleep aid and for inflammation
  • Inositol - a nervous system tonic
  • Skullcap - has been used for a wide range of nervous conditions including insomnia, hysteria, anxiety and drug withdrawal
  • e-d-s enzyme blend - an enzyme delivery system which helps break down the ingredients so they can be readily absorbed by the body

The Real Test

The first night I took them I didn’t notice that I fell asleep that much faster but I definitely did stay asleep longer.  I woke up the first morning feeling groggy but that had more to do with my body not being on a regular sleep cycle for a long time.  After a few days, things started evening out and the morning grogginess was gone. After a few weeks, I was able to fall asleep on my own and now only use Sleepzyme when I’m having trouble falling asleep.

What I Recommend

Whether you continue to use Sleepzyme once you’re sleeping normally again is entirely up to you.  Many people have reported they take it like they take other supplements.  There’s certainly nothing in it to harm you with long-term use.  Do make sure you can give 7-8 hours for sleep to help alleviate any morning grogginess at least initially.

For me, I changed my eating and exercise habits and just found I really didn’t need it daily.  It’s a personal choice.  Unlike prescription sedatives which are NOT a choice after you become dependent on them.

For a limited time, you can get a 30-day supply of Sleepzyme for FREE!  All you have to pay is the shipping.
